Take It Away

Important Guidelines

⮞ Production Department Guidelines

⮞ Production Department Guidelines

⮞ Production Department Guidelines

✔ Energy & Resources:

  • Opt for suppliers, vehicles, studios, and accommodations that utilize 100% renewable energy.
  • Promote energy-efficient practices in the lighting department and consider alternative energy solutions.
  • Request fuel consumption details from generator suppliers.
  • Verify that your cloud storage and short-term remote servers run on 100% renewable energy. If not, contemplate a switch.
  • For long-term data storage with minimal access, use LTO tape. Store two copies in separate locations to reduce reliance on energy-consuming cloud servers and hard drives.

✔ Materials & Waste:

  • Advocate for minimal material usage across art, costume, makeup, and food styling departments.
  • Plan for the reuse or rehoming of set items, props, costumes, and food with a goal towards zero waste.
  • Consider eliminating meat from catering options.
  • Transition to paperless operations where possible.
  • Implement a no-poly policy in the catering, lighting, and art departments. Minimize single-use items and emphasize recycling and composting practices.

✔ Transportation:

  • Prioritize suppliers with hybrid or electric transport options and ensure your department (prop, costume, etc.) uses similar eco-friendly modes.
  • Where feasible, opt for public transport or cycling.
  • If driving is necessary, avoid idling your vehicle.

✔ Energy & Resources:

  • Use 100% renewable energy sources for your workspace and ensure equipment is powered down when not in use.
  • For primary power needs, utilize grid power. If batteries are required, opt for rechargeable over disposable ones.

✔ Purchases & Waste Management:

  • Before purchasing for the project, consider the item's post-use plan: Is it essential? Can it be repurposed or recycled?
  • Always view documents digitally.
  • Adopt reusable alternatives: carry a reusable bottle, coffee cup, and canvas bags for purchases.
  • Ensure proper disposal of used disposable batteries, broken hard drives, and other electronics.
  • Sort waste diligently, adhering to recycling and composting guidelines.
