In the U.S., public tap water is regulated by the EPA, which requires multiple daily tests for bacteria and makes results available to the public. The Food and Drug Administration, which regulates bottled water, only requires weekly testing and does not share its findings with the EPA or the public.
It takes 17 million barrels of oil to meet America’s annual demand for bottled water, which is enough to fuel 1.3 million cars for a year.
Americans throw out 38 billion empty water bottles a year, more than $1 billion worth of plastic. 80% of plastic water bottles are not recycled and end up in landfills or waterways.
Many water bottles contain the chemical bisphenol A (BPA), a hormone-disrupting chemical that has been associated with reproductive abnormalities, obesity, and insulin resistance.
It takes 700 years before plastic bottles start to decompose, and can take up to 1000 years to fully decompose.
It takes 3 times the amount of water in a plastic bottle to make it as it does to fill it. If you fill 1/4th plastic bottle, that is the amount of oil it took to make it. Well, we all have heard about all this plastic pollution, & we all know that the problem exists. But, still, you are here & probably because you care! & If you care then this video will change your mind about how plastic bottles are destroying our planet.
